What is BELIEVE?
The aim of Believe 2009 is to proclaim the Eucharistic Reign of Jesus and the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary by drawing the hearts of the young people closer to the Heart of the Church - its source and its summit. This event is to further strengthen the conviction of young people to embrace every human being with the love of Christ by preserving His presence inside their hearts and minds, especially through Eucharistic Communion and Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the meditation on His life through the Holy Rosary. Being strengthened in such a way, the youth will become living examples for other youth, thereby drawing all youth to desire such an intimate union with Jesus in the Eucharist, truly present, Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity!

Hotel Information

What hotel are we staying at and how far is it from the Congress?
Those that are registering for Package A will be staying at the Marriott Hotel in Ontario, California. The hotel is located across the Ontario Convention Center, where BELIEVE 2009 - Youth Eucharistic Congress, will be held.

How many people can stay in the hotel room and can we choose who we can stay with?
Only FOUR people per room is allowed. YES, you can write the names of who you would prefer to stay with on the registration form in the spaces provided under Package A. However, those people that you name must also be registering for Package A. The people that you name must also be of the same gender.

What if I do not write a name under who I would prefer to stay with?
If you do not write a name under who you would prefer to stay with then we will match you up with roommates according to age, gender, and location. This is actually a great way to meet new people and to make the Congress more of a retreat for yourself, away from what you are familiar with so you can be more focused on our Lord.

Who is hosting this conference?

The Mary Help of Christians Crusade (MHCC) is hosting this event. We are the youth sector under the Alliance of the Holy Family International (AHFI), which is a Catholic international movement under the supervision of the Pontifical Council for the Family whose mission is to restore and strengthen holiness in the church through the family, the youth, the clergy, and the media. The MHCC encourages young Catholics to live a life of holiness through prayer, the rosary, confession, & frequent reception of Holy Communion. The MHCC is made up of many different chapters around the world and each chapter often meets for prayer meetings and frequently hosts retreats for parishes and/or groups in the church. Our aim is to draw the youth closer to the heart of the church - The Eucharist.

What is there to expect at BELIEVE?

HOLY MASS
“It is highly fitting that Christ should have wanted to remain present to his Church in this unique way. Since Christ was about to take His departure in His own visible form. He wanted to give us His sacramental presence; since he was about to offer Himself on the cross to save us, He wanted us to have the memorial of the love with which He loved us “to the end,” even to the giving of His life. In His Eucharistic presence He remains mysteriously in our midst as the One who loved us and gave Himself up for us, and He remains under signs that express and communicate this love” (CCC#1380)

HOLY HOURS OF ADORATION
“The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet Him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease” (John Paul II, Dominicae Cenae, 3)
The youth will be asked to reflect on the day’s events in a prayerful manner, singing songs of praise and worship to Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament, writing in their journals, and brief sharing of experiences.

CONFESSION
“Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.” (Mt. 5:8)
This sacrament will be available throughout the duration of the conference to provide the youth an opportunity to become free of sin, receive intimate spiritual advice and be truly worthy to receive Communion.

HOLY ROSARY
There are times when the Rosary will be prayed during the congress. In Rosarium Virginis Mariae, John Paul II strongly encouraged the promotion of the Rosary in creative ways. Thus, within the conference the Rosary will be prayed with added visual aids to encourage the youth to pray it and to grow in its appreciation as a Christ-centered prayer.

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION
Ideally, a Eucharistic Procession will take place in the streets of the hosting city. This is meant to give the youth an opportunity to witness to the rest of the world the Eucharistic Reign of Jesus.

LIVING ROSARY
The Living Rosary is the tradition of reproducing the Rosary on a large-scale composed of inflated balloons to represent the 54 beads and the Crucifix. Each bead is recited by a single person in which at its completion is magnificently released into the sky.

LIVE MUSIC
Throughout the whole event, live music performed by the Youth and the Religious alike will help animate the different aspects of the program; There is also a Youth Choir specifically assembled to perform traditional and Latin hymns for the Mass, to increase the solemnity of the Sacred Liturgy.

WORKSHOPS
To aid the youth participants in their understanding of the talks there will be a number of workshops. Here they are divided into smaller groups that are moderated by the religious chaparones and youth leaders. They will discuss the talks, share personal experiences, and ultimately be able to make some resolutions.

DYNAMICS
Group dynamics will be held to increase the youth participation and to foster a sense of belonging in a community of believers. This includes large-scale interactive games and animated Action-Songs.

WITNESSING
There is nothing more convincing than to see one of your own talking about the issue. So some youth have volunteered to give testimonies on their experience of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

CULTURAL NIGHT
This is the night where the youth can collaborate and express themselves boldly and creatively, utilizing their God-given talents through skit, song or dance presentations.

VOCATION CHALLENGE
The culmination of the event, in conjunction with the Final Mass and Blessings, is the Vocation Challenge in which the young people will be courageously challenged to approach the stage as a sign of their willingness and readiness to follow the Will of God, in whatever vocation the Lord may have in store.

There will be various talks done by some religious priests, brothers, and sisters that we have invited, and witnessing and testimonies from many of our own youth from the Mary Help of Christians Crusade.

What are the talk topics?

Talk #1:

“HAVE NO FEAR, THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD!”

“In various parts of the Church, abuses have occurred leading to confusion with regard to sound faith and Catholic Doctrine concerning this wonderful sacrament… Stripped of its sacrificial meaning, it is celebrated as if it were simply a fraternal banquet. Furthermore, the necessity of the ministerial priesthood, grounded in apostolic succession, is at times obscured and the sacramental nature of the Eucharist is reduced to its mere effectiveness as a form of proclamation”(Ecclesia de Eucharistia” #10 Pope John Paul II).
The way the Church adores the Eucharist today will be presented. Errors which have crept in to some parts of the world need to be exposed to prevent the misinformation of the youth about true Catholic Doctrine on Worship. Although the clouds of doubt have been dispelled by faith in the Eucharist we are reminded of the constant temptation to abandon what we believe.• This topic explores the numerous challenges in keeping faithful to our faith in His Real Presence.• This includes the promotion of reverence as a sign of having faith in the Eucharist.

Talk #2:

“RECEIVE THE POWER!”

In the midst of lies and serious doubts to the Faith, our belief in the Eucharist stands out and comes ever alive in the life of believers witnessing to the powerful presence and transforming love of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Eucharist will continue to shine forth in all its radiant mystery. A Eucharist centered lifestyle leads to transformation and union with God.• Having dispelled the clouds of doubt on our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus we now find ourselves compelled to come and adore Him. • We come to appreciate the beauty of adoration in the context of our state of life.• This topic explores the fruits of adoration for the soul, the effects on the person, and the benefits for society

Talk #3:

“FEAR NOT, ONLY BELIEVE!”

What is adoration? This topic explores the effects of adoration and surveys its impact in the youth, family, clergy, and mass media. It presents its beauty and necessity in building up a well-founded spiritual life.• Defines adoration and its nature.• Explores how people adore Christ in the Eucharist throughout the Church.• Gives examples from the saints.

Talk #4:

“COURAGE TO BE PURE!”

“Do not be afraid to be holy! Have the courage and humility to present yourselves to the world determined to be holy.” (John Paul II)
Holiness is rooted in purity of life sustained in a Eucharistic, reparative lifestyle and in imitation of Our Blessed Mother, the perfect adorer and powerful Mediatrix of Graces. Young people ought to know that God has a divine plan for them in every stage of life and adventure of growing up to reach human and Christian maturity. They are being prepared to respond to their divine vocation to marriage, single blessedness or the consecrated life. All through life’s journey, Jesus and Mary will be our source of strength and the guide to Eternal life.• Mary typifies the Church: She is our model in all things.• But in particular, her purity shines as the way towards Christ, and the fruit of adoring Christ.

Talk #5:

“FEARLESS APOSTLES OF THE EUCHARIST!”

“The Lord will help you to know His Will; He will help you to follow your vocation courageously.” (John Paul II)
It is time to wake up and end the deafening silence of man! This challenges men, right between the eyes, to understand their role and duty whether married or unmarried. This must be presented with a strong encouragement to be heroically faithful to God and His Church. Having experienced the reality of the Real Presence and lived the truth of purity, the Holy Spirit moves us to witness the transforming power of the Eucharist to the rest of our peers.

How will this event benefit the church and the local diocese?

This event will encourage many youth in your diocese and other dioceses around Southern California to imitate the life of Christ and embrace every human being with the love of Christ by preserving His presence inside their hearts. It will also strengthen the youth in their Catholic faith and give them a desire to serve in ministries and missions in their local dioceses' and parishes.

Where else has this Eucharistic Conference taken place?

This same Eucharistic conference (called “Adore” in other places) has been held in many different places such as Nebraska, New Jersey, Texas, Alabama, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, Philippines, and Australia.
